Deer Lake Outdoor Center

Welcome to Orienteering - A sport for Families, Hikers, and Runners of all ages!

Orienteering is the skill of finding one's way through a series of checkpoints on an unfamiliar course using a map and a compass. We supply the map and course, but you decide how to get to each of the checkpoints. On your way, explore Deer Lake Outdoor Center. If you're the competitive type, see how fast you can complete the course! 

This event is hosted in collaboration with Western Connecticut Orienteering Club (WCOC). We'll have two courses to explore; one for beginners and another for advanced beginners. Free instruction will be available -- no experience is necessary. If you would like instruction, please arrive before 11 a.m. (it's also a good idea to register in advance).

Special beginner price of $5 per person (regardless of membership status or whether you go in a group). Payment will be collected at the event when you check-in at the registration table.

Participants can register and begin at any time between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Control flags are collected beginning at 2:00 p.m. (participants must check in and finish the course by this time). Event is held rain or shine!
